Seven out of the world's eight species of sea turtles are either critically endangered or endangered. One primary reason for their endangered status is loss of habitat. Sea turtle eggs used to be collected as delicacies and as such populations were greatly reduced. Modern-day sea turtles are having trouble reproducing at rates fast enough to replace their populations. The main reasons sea turtles are endangered are destruction of habitats due to coastal developments, over exploitation of resources, poaching and smuggling, and pollution. Without conservation efforts these problems may lead all sea turtle species to extinction within the next century. Global Warming Wear honors the sea turtle with its Sea Turtle and Sea Turtle Swirl textile prints.
